Your winter movement challenge is back!
Join Run Calgary for the second annual winter movement challenge. Winter Moves is meant to keep you active, outdoors and appreciating winter.
Move outdoors for a total of 80 hours in 90 days between the first day of winter on December 21st to the first day of spring on March 20.
New in 2022 your swag will be ready for pick up or mail out before the first day of the challenge.
Run, walk, hike, fat tire bike, skate, snowshoe and cross-country or downhill ski right into Spring.

Event Details
This virtual movement is a great way to stay connected this winter.
- Sign up solo and connect through our online community and if you choose in safe outdoor spaces with others.
- Bring a friend or two along for the challenge and you are creating accountability and shaping your winter around outdoor activities.
- This is also a fun way to keep your family moving together, with youth registrations, a youth curated Winter Moves essentials kit as well content and prizing geared towards our youngest winter warriors.
Move together through the longest and darkest days of winter averaging the recommended 5 hours a week of outdoor activity on your own, with training partners or as part of our virtual community.
This challenge will keep you focused, fit, and if you choose, fundraising for Canadian Mental Health.

We know Canadians love to get outside to play. We are here to help you keep that up, try some new things and achieve your goals.
Your ultimate objective for Winter Moves is to log 80 outdoor hours between December 21 and March 20. You’ll stay active and collect exclusive swag to keep you warm and looking good when you #WinterMoves.
We’ve designed this virtual event to make it fun and challenging for anyone – newbies or experienced backcountry warriors. For example, walk your dog for 30 minutes six times a week and invite a friend to socially-distant x-country ski for 2 hours on the weekend, there's your 5 hours! Or log a couple of commuting hours on your fat tire bike and round out the week with a family snowshoe! Choose your own adventure and take us along for the ride using #WinterMoves.
You can live, and participate, from anywhere in the world, but be advised this challenge is more fun in a winter wonderland. The one rule is outdoor activities only and we’ll be here to support you with training tips and rewards.

Giving Back
Tracking your Progress
You don't have to learn any new technology. Once you join Winter Moves, Challenge Hound will automatically pull down your activities from the leading tracking tools (Strava) and update. You'll get an email from Challenge Hound with your progress and everyone else in the challenge can see the results online. There is also an option to manually enter activities as well.
Late to the movement party? It will retroactively pull your activities that qualify going back to the first day of the challenge, so if you join late, don't sweat it - just keep sweating and let Challenge Hound do the thinking.
