Run Calgary race policies

Restrictions Exemption Program

Updated Tuesday, Sept 28, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

Run Calgary is a community that cares deeply about health, wellness and longevity and as such, we will act in accordance with provincial health recommendations as well as the new City of Calgary bylaw

Starting with Wild Run, we will be asking all participants 12 and up registered in an in-person event to show one of the following prior to participating in-person or volunteering:

Proof of Covid-19 double vaccination (between September 20 – October 25, proof of a single dose will be accepted as long as the dose was given two (2) or more weeks prior to attendance)

OR

Negative Covid-19 test with 72 hours of either your volunteer shift or the race start (7:00am Sunday, October 10 for Wild Run)

How will this work?

If you are Volunteering in the coming weeks, you will hear from Jill, the volunteer coordinator, in the coming days.

If you are Participating in an in-person Run Calgary event you will receive further communication about this process.

In order to receive your race bib for in-person participants, we will need to see your ID and vaccination records in-person. For In-Person Events going forward we will offer the following options for participants:

  • Show your ID and proof of vaccination at curbside pickup. Participants may not show documents for another racer not present. You can pick up packages for other registrants not present at curbside pick up, but they will not receive their bibs until we have seen their documents in-person on race morning.

OR

  • Show your ID and proof of vaccination on race morningIf someone picked up your race kit for you, and you do not have a bib, you can show us your documentation to receive your bib on race morning. Extra staff and volunteers will be ready to keep this process moving quickly, but be prepared to give yourself plenty of time before the race starts.

Run Calgary is proud to offer many options for keeping you moving. We have a number of participation options available, including virtual components for all our events. Should you decide not to participate in-person, we are happy to transfer your race to a virtual one. If the adoption of the restrictions exemption program means you now want to race in-person, we can switch you from virtual for a small upgrade fee.

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Maureen at info@calgarymarathon.com

The race directors discourage the use of these devices for the runner's safety and the safety of those around them. There is no risk of disqualification for simple use, however, if a runner puts themselves or other runners at risk through an unsafe act that the Board of Directors determine was caused directly or indirectly through the use of a prohibited item, the race directors reserve the right to disqualify the runner.
