This longstanding fundraising event has contributed close to $100,000 to the U of C Dino track and cross-country teams.
Did you know that the Dino Dash was one of Run Calgary's first events outside of the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon? In 2004, two enterprising University of Calgary students dreamed up this race to help fund the University of Calgary's Dinos cross-country and track & field teams.Since then, $100,000 has been contributed to help provide scholarships, competition opportunities and uniforms for student athletes. Run Calgary is proud to help support student athletes.Go Dinos!

Money raised for the Dinos helps fund athletes like Stefan Daniel, an Olympic silver medalist in para-triathlon. When not studying, biking, or swimming, he trains with the Dino's cross country group and was recently named an all-Canadian (top 14 in the country) on the Canada West championship Dino's men's XC team.
Your fundraising also supports athletes like Russell Pennock who represented Alberta at the Canada Summer Games in the 5000M race on the track, leading the men's XC team to a national silver medal and conference championship. He finished 4th overall in the country and also represented Canada at the World University Games.
So how will the athletes make use of the funds?
$150 buys one year of gear for a Dino.
$150 allows a competition opportunity on the Prairies.
$240 gains access to the Olympic Oval for a winter's worth of training.
Some of these funds are allocated to scholarships that help the students with their tuition or to help them access competition opportunities that would otherwise not be affordable.
**All fees associated with race registration are non-refundable and non-transferable to another participant. This act may seem well intentioned, but has many negative implications to the organizers and participants including liability, timing, results, awards and many other factors. Giving or selling a bib to someone who is not officially registered will result in disqualification, and the original participant being banned from future run calgary events.
